Online Kappa By-Laws
Beta Sigma Phi is an international women's friendship network. It also provides educational programs to its members and opportunities for service to others. We are women of all ages, interests and educational and economic backgrounds, and are the largest organization of our kind in the world.
In order to join an on-line group, one must be either a Member-at-Large or an Active Member. You may hold membership in a "land" chapter in addition to an affiliation with an On-line Chapter; or you may retain your Member-at-Large status and become a member of an On-line Chapter.
ARTICLE I
The name of this chapter by the authority of the Executive Council shall be On Line Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. OLK was recognized by International with a charter date of November 1, 2000.
ARTICLE II
The Chapter year shall consist of 12 meetings, June thru May. The Chapter birthday shall be on June 30th and shall be acknowledged in some special way by the members.
Regular meetings shall be held on the second Sunday of each month at 3:30 p.m. EST.
ARTICLE III
A quorum shall be one-third of the active membership.
ARTICLE IV
Amendments or additional bylaws, not in conflict with the Constitution of Beta Sigma Phi or rules and regulations of the Executive council, may be passed by a two-thirds vote of the chapter. Such amendments or by-laws must be presented in writing to the chapter thirty days before adoption.
By-law amendments must be sent to International office for approval by the International Executive Council. Any additional by-laws through the recording secretary's minutes of the chapter meeting will be sent to International as well.
ARTICLE V
GOAL
The goal for On Line Kappa shall be to unite congenially into fellowship, sisters who have been accepted into Beta Sigma Phi. Our goal is to bring love, support and most of all friendships, into our chapter and our world by providing sisters a place to network, receive and give support as we journey through our lives, and to empower sisters with the strength, knowledge and wisdom to be creative and to be proud of who they are. It's that unconditional love that gains us our friendships and makes us a better person.
ARTICLE VI
Theme
OLK will follow the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority annual theme. the 2004-2005 chapter year theme is "Give the Gifts of Sisterhood".
ARTICLE VII
Membership
Membership is open to any member of Beta Sigma Phi in good standing with the International office Online Kappa
By-Laws. In addition, members are asked to pay a mandatory $15 Ways and Means fee to be included with their dues payment. All member's dues are payable no later than the close of the September meeting. On January 1st, dues will be prorated at the rate of $1.67 per month through August for new members joining the chapter. New members are expected to pay their dues within 60 days of their acceptance into the chapter. Yearbooks are not sent to new members until all payments are satisfied. At the end of the 60 day period of time, should these obligations not be met, the member shall be removed from the chapter membership rolls.
